Union Bay is located in the Comox Valley on BC's Vancouver Island - just south of Courtenay/Comox.
Union Bay is a former booming coal port and is home to one of 2 remaining Canadian Post Office buildings from the early 20th century. The Union Bay Post Office was renovated by the Union Bay Historical Society in the mid 1990s and still functions as the area's Post Office. Next door to the post office is the renovated Gaolhouse - now home to a small museum. This is the Gaolhouse that held Henry Wagner AKA 'The Flying Dutchman' who after killing a local policeman was captured and tried in Nanaimo where he is also famous for being the last man hanged in that city.
While small, Union Bay also boasts a boat launch, a fishing outfitters - and the local market is home to what we proudly claim is the world's largest Stanley Cup.
